I came across a brilliant tool: Can I Vibecode It? (canivibecodeit.com)

Think of it as a “caniuse.com” for paid software.

For more than 950 apps, it tells you straight:

🟢 YES → you can rebuild it in a single session with an AI coding agent

🟡 KINDA → it takes a weekend, and some gaps will remain

🔴 NOT REALLY → it has a real moat (data, network, infrastructure)

The catalogue numbers come from canivibecodeit.com: as of 6 August 2026 there are 976 apps listed, with the “Death List” at 680.

The ready-made prompt for Claude Code, Cursor or Codex

It doesn’t stop at the verdict: for every tool it hands you the exact prompt to copy and paste into Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.

Who’s actually using it

The tool is blowing up on X (formerly Twitter), and some people are actually putting it to work:

- One person vibecoded a Skitch replacement (a screenshot tool) in minutes

- Someone else replaced the German equivalent of QuickBooks

- One founder even built a companion tool (“Should I Vibe Code It?”) in under 8 hours

The counterpoint: time versus money

Then there’s the realistic counterpoint (widely shared):

“Plenty of tools I pay for are on that list… and I’m not replacing them. Time has value. If I spend hours to save $25 a month, either my time is worth nothing or I can’t do math.”

Bottom line: it’s a seriously powerful tool if you want to cut costs and experiment with vibe coding, but it asks you to weigh time against money.
